In a big twist in the Raja Raghuvashi murder case, a new name– Jitendra Raghuvanshi– has come to the fore as the police probe different angles of the case. Five people, including Raja’s wife Sonam and her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha, have so far been arrested in the case.

Sonam Raghuvanshi allegedly conspired along with Raj to kill her husband during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Three assassins, who happen to be Raj’s childhood friends, were lured to commit the crime.

Raja was found dead on June 2 in a deep gorge in Shillong. His body was located with the help of a drone. Cops also recovered his mobile phone and a machete, believed to have been used in the crime.

Who Is Jitendra Raghuvanshi

According to Sonam’s brother, Govind, Jitendra Raghuvanshi is his cousin and a junior employee in their family business. Earlier, several reports claimed that Jitendra was involved in siphoning money through hawala routes along with Raj for Sonam’s family business. As per the police, cited by Jagran.com, they have discovered four accounts in Jitendra’s name, where transactions worth lakhs have been done.

Govind, during his media interaction on Wednesday, however, refuted such claims and said his family had nothing to do with hawala.

“We don’t have to do anything with hawala. False stories are being cooked up. The man Jitendra Raghuvanshi, whose name is cropping up, is my maternal cousin as well as a junior employee in our family business, who looks after loading and unloading in the godown. The account in his name actually has that money of ours, which is spent on taking care of the day-to-day expenditure of the business,” The New Indian Express quoted him as saying.

Reports also suggest that Sonam used Jitendra’s account to send token money to the assailants for filling Raja.
