A 22-year-old man was allegedly killed by his maternal uncles in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district after a heated argument over the Bihar poll verdict escalated into violence. Police rushed the victim, Shankar, to the district hospital, where he was declared dead by doctors. The accused have been taken into custody, and a case has been registered.
The accused, identified as Rajesh Manjhi (25) and Toofani Manjhi (27), committed the crime at the under-construction police lines premises in the Cantt police station area, where 22-year-old labourer Shankar Manjhi from Bihar’s Shivhar district was staying with his maternal uncles.
According to police station in-charge Anoop Bhargava, preliminary investigation found that Shankar was an RJD supporter, while the two accused backed the JD(U). A drunken argument between them escalated into a violent clash.
Rajesh and Toofani allegedly dragged Shankar to a nearby muddy patch and pinned him down, leading to his death. Police rushed him to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Bhargava said both accused were taken into custody and confessed to the murder during interrogation.
In a separate incident, a 62-year-old man was allegedly killed by his paternal nephew on Monday (Oct 20) night in Mutena village of Greater Noida’s Dankaur area after being struck with a brick. Police reached the spot soon after receiving the information, took the body into custody, and sent it for post-mortem. The deceased, identified as Satpal, was a retired Army personnel who had been farming in the village since 2006.
According to his son Amit’s complaint, the attack stemmed from an old property dispute involving Satpal and his brothers. He alleged that four relatives confronted Satpal near their under-construction gher and assaulted him, with Subhash reportedly hitting him on the head with a brick. However, police said a preliminary probe suggests the argument began over bursting firecrackers on Diwali. A case has been registered, and several suspects have been detained for questioning.
