MP News: A 14-year-old Rishan Katara, who is also a national-level skater, jumped off from his school building after the school administration called his parents over the use of a mobile phone on the campus.
Rishan, who is a class 8th student at a private school, jumped from the third floor around 10:30 am on Friday after he abruptly left the parents' teacher meeting called to discuss the boy using a phone on campus. The incident occurred in the Industrial Police Station area of Ratlam.
Student Suffers Critical Injuries
The student suffered fractures in his jaw, both legs and spine. The student was referred to another private hospital in Ratlam after initial treatment at a nearby facility. According to a report by The Times of India, quoting medical sources, Rishan suffered eight to 10 spinal fractures in addition to bilateral leg fractures.

Here’s What Happened
- The school authorities had counselled Rishan on Thursday over bringing a mobile phone to school and making a social media reel, and his parents were summoned the next day to discuss the matter.
- But, just before the meeting with the school authorities could start, the 14-year-old boy suddenly ran out of the room, rushed to the third floor and jumped from the building. Later, he told his parents that he panicked because he was scared of how his parents would react.
- SDM Archi Harit inspected the school and informed that the boy later confided to his mother that he feared his parents' reaction.
- Harit informed that Rishan is a state-level skater and a bright student, who was preparing for a national tournament, adding, ‘Mobile is not allowed in school.'
