A family and property dispute in the royal family of Nagod of Satna district of Madhya Pradesh turned bloody when the first wife of Rupendra Kumar Singh was seriously injured in a shooting incident. The police also face the accusation of providing preferential treatment.

Yogita Singh is the first wife of Rupendra Kumar Singh, alias Baba Raja, nephew of Nagendra Singh, the Nagod MLA. The two had been involved in a long-standing family and property dispute. On Thursday, Yogita Singh, along with her son Prathudev, mother Narendra Kumari, and brother Nagendra Singh, arrived in Parasmania Garhi to negotiate a settlement.

According to family members, the argument escalated during the conversation, and an altercation ensued. It is alleged that Baba Raja instigated the shooting, prompting Sunita Singh, who was living with him, to fire several rounds from her licensed .22-bore gun.

One bullet struck Yogita Singh in the abdomen, seriously injuring her. She was first admitted to Satna and later to Vindhya Multi-Speciality Hospital in Rewa.

Long-Running Property And Petrol Pump Dispute

Members of the family say that the problem is the long-standing quarrel between Yogita Singh and Baba Raja regarding property issues and the business of a petrol pump that was running under the name of Yogita.

The complainant says that after Sunita Singh jumped into the matter, both parties got into serious tiffs, resulting in multiple Police complaints each year.

After the said incident, Uchehra Police have arrested Sunita Singh, and a case has been registered under section 307, ie, attempted murder. Family members of the victim have also asked for a probe into Baba Raja's role in the incident, saying that he was provoking her to fire shots.

Viral Video Sparks Controversy

The video shows Sunita Singh sitting relaxed inside a Police Station with a cold drink in hand. The pictures have come in for a lot of flak, with the general public alleging that due to her connection, Sunita Singh is being given 'VIP' treatment.

Two days after the firing, photographs and videos surfaced showing Baba Raja with visible injuries and torn clothes. Police subsequently registered a separate case against Yogita Singh's brother, Nagendra Singh Rathore of Udaipur, and two others on allegations including assault.

Baba Raja's supporters claim he was attacked before the firing took place, while Yogita Singh's family maintains that he was responsible for triggering the confrontation.

Yogita Singh's mother, Narendra Kumari, has alleged that the attack was planned. She claims Baba Raja pushed Yogita during the confrontation and that shots were fired while Yogita was attempting to protect herself.

The family has questioned why only Sunita Singh has been named as the primary accused and has called for an impartial probe into the role of all those present.

Baba Raja's Controversial Past

Rupendra Singh, alias Baba Raja, has previously been named in several high-profile cases. He was also involved in the 1991 Kunjal Bhumiya murder case and the 2010-11 rape case involving a tribal girl. However, questions have been raised from time to time about the legal action taken in these cases.
