Mumbai BMW Hit-And-Run: After a speeding BMW car crashed and killed a woman in Mumbai's Worli on early Sunday morning, the father of the accused and a prominent leader of the ruling Shiv Sena (Shinde) was arrested in the evening by police. According to officials, Rajesh Shah was present in the luxury car when his son Mihir Shah hit a couple riding a scooter. While one of the victims died, the BMW car was driven away by the accused.
Mumbai Police officials also said that the 24-year-old son of Sena's Palghar leader was drunk at the time of the incident. His blood test report is yet to come, officials added.
The Mumbai police have also arrested the driver, Rajendra Singh Bijawat, who was accompanying the father-son in the car. Officials said that they were arrested for not cooperating with police and will be presented in court tomorrow.

The accused have been booked under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita with sections of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving and destruction of evidence invoked against them. Several provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act have also been invoked against them.
Mumbai BMW Accident: What Police's Version
According to NDTV, the vehicle is registered under the name of the accused Mihir Shah. The family driver Bijawat and Shah, both were present inside the car at the time of the accident, Mumbai Police said. Shah, who drank in a Juhu bar on Saturday night, had asked the driver to take him on a long drive. While returning, he insisted on driving the car back home. Soon after Shah steered the luxury car on the road, he crashed a local couple.
Fish Seller Couple Hit, Mihir Shah Ran Away
Mihir Shah crashed the speeding car with a scooter carrying Kaveri Nakva and her husband Pradik Nakva. The fish seller couple, residents of Worli's Koliwada area, was returning after buying fish to sell during the day. While on their way back home, they were hit by a BMW. Kaveri Navka was thrown in the air and later crushed under the speeding car. She succumbed to her injuries in a Mumbai hospital while her husband sustained minor injuries.
