Mumbai BMW Crash: Hours after Mihir Shah, Shiv Sena (Shine) leader Rajesh Shah's son, was arrested in connection with the Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case, the family of deceased victim Kaveri Nakhwa raised concerns over his delayed blood tests. "The traces of alcohol won't appear in blood samples now as it has been over 72 hours," said Pradeep Nakhwa, Kaveri's husband, who also suffered injuries in the car crash. Pradeep, a humble fish seller, broke down while expressing dismay over Mumbai police's action, which came too late.
"The family does not have resources to fight the legal battle against the culprit, who is a political leader's son," Pradeep said while sobbing as his teen daughter comforted him. Nakhwa asked why Mihir Shah went into hiding if he was not drunk.
"He was arrested after three days. What does this mean? If he wasn't alcoholic, if he hadn't taken drugs, then why did he go into hiding?... Why was he absconding for three days? You abandoned the vehicle on the way and broke the number plate before running away... Now, after three days, there won't be any traces of alcohol in his body and he will have 20 lawyers with him," he said.

Pradeep, a visibly shattered man, again broke down, asking who was there to get the family justice.
"We are poor. Who is there to support us or get us justice? Today, he will be sent to jail. Tomorrow, he will be produced in court and then he will get bail. He will be released and then this case will be dragged on. Where will we get the money to fight the case? How will we hire a lawyer? Who is there for us? Politicians don't care for us. He (the accused) is the son of a leader. He has money. We have nothing," said Nakhwa.

Pradeep Nakhwa and his wife Kaveri were returning after buying fish from Sassoon Dock in the wee hours of Sunday when their scooter was hit by a speeding luxury car. According to Nakhwa, Mihir Shah was driving the BMW, while a man, who was later identified as the family's driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, was sitting in the passenger seat.

The CCTV footage showed heart-wrenching details of the hit and run. Kaveri was dragged almost 1.5 kilometres under the vehicle before the culprits pulled over. Later, Mihir and Bidawat were seen pulling the woman from under the engine bay and placing her on the road. They were also seen exchanging seats; however, they mowed her down once again while reversing the car.
"She would have been alive today if he hadn't run his car over her again while reversing," said her grieving husband.
