Mumbai Police has tightened the security across the city after they received a social media message hinting towards a possible "Hindu-Muslim riots, arson and bomb blasts" during the festival of Eid in "areas like Dongri" by "illegal Rohingya/Bangladeshi/Pakistani infiltrators", an official said on Friday.
Providing further details, the official said that the warning was received on X on Thursday morning. The Navi Mumbai police was tagged in the message, the official added.
The X message asked the Mumbai police to stay vigilant because "on March 31-April 1,2025, during Eid, some illegal Rohingya/Bangladeshi/Pakistani infiltrators, who stay in the areas like Dongri, may incite Hindu-Muslim riots, arson and bomb blasts".
Navi Mumbai Police replies, hightens security
The Navi Mumbai Police replied to the post saying, “Thanks for the Navi Mumbai Police contact number, please send the mobile number for necessary action.”
Soon after the message was received, Navi Mumbai Police alerted their counterpart, Mumbai police, which tightened the security across the metropolis. In line with the warning, the police also increased patrolling in areas like Dongri, the official said. Furthermore, the officials added that nothing suspicious or untoward had been reported as yet.
The official further informed that the Crime Branch, ATS, and Special Branch have also been roped in to heighten the security architecture of the city. "Apart from Mumbai police personnel, the Crime Branch, the Anti Terrorism Squad, and Special Branch are also on heightened vigil," he informed.
Person also shares warning for Delhi
A similar post tagging Delhi Police and Delhi CM Rekha Gupta was also shared by the same person. In his post, he said, "Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi Police and UP Police, please stay alert! During Eid on 31 March 1 April 2025, some illegal Rohingya/Bangladeshi/Pakistani Muslims might cause Hindu-Muslim riots or bomb blasts in Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid, Jahangirpuri."
