Mumbai Rain Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that Mumbai and nearby cities will continue to witness light to moderate rainfall on Thursday, June 25. As per the weather department, along with the rainfall, the capital city of Maharashtra will also receive gusty winds and lightning. The continuous rain is likely to affect the road and local train services, leading to inconveniences to the commuters.
Humidity Level Likely To Remain High
The weather department, while providing details, stated that the residents are likely to witness cloudy skies for most parts of the day. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 30 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 25 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, the humidity level is likely to remain high at around 90 per cent, while winds are expected to blow at around 15.3 km/h.
The rainfall has provided relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. However, the continuous rainfall caused waterlogging in the lower regions, leading to significant inconveniences. While Malvani in the western suburbs recorded 340 mm rain, Parel in central Mumbai received 334 mm of rainfall.
Rain Likely In Mumbai, Palghar
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation stated that heavy rain and gusty winds are likely in Mumbai and Palghar. "Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and Intense to very Intense spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 40-60 kmph very likely to occur at isolated places. Districts: Mumbai, Palghar," said BMC in its post.
Apart from this warning, the IMD has also issued an alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall across 17 states over the next three to four days. In its advisory, the weather department stated that several states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, are set to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days.
