Punjab AAP MLA Harmeet Singh Dhillon Pathanmajra, who fled his relative’s house in Karnal’s Dabri village on Tuesday minutes before his arrest in an alleged rape case, released a video on Wednesday from an unidentified location, denying any attack on the police team that had gone to arrest him at a relative's home in Haryana's Karnal district. He further claimed that the Punjab Police was planning “to eliminate him in a fake encounter.”
He criticised the massive crackdown, alleging that nearly 400-500 personnel, including 8-10 superintendents of police, several deputy SPs, and a dozen SHOs, had been deployed merely to portray him as a gangster.

In the video, the first-time MLA from Sanour said, "My sources in the police told me that my staged police encounter was planned. Eight SPs, eight DSPs, five SHOs and encounter specialist Bikram Brar among hundreds of cops arrived to nab one MLA. I respect the police but I am disappointed over false police claims."
He accused a “Delhi lobby” within the party of targeting him and urged fellow Punjab MLAs to resist “outside interference destabilising the state.” Questioning the police action, he asked whether he had confronted them, scuffled, or fired any gunshot, while alleging that the force was “acting on Delhi leaders’ directions.” Invoking history, he said, “If invaders like Abdali couldn’t scare Punjab, how can Delhi’s leaders suppress us?”

He further claimed that Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) DSP Bikramjit Brar was pursuing him and camping in Karnal, even as police sources confirmed that the AGTF, tasked with operations against gangsters and notorious criminals, had been deployed to track the MLA using CCTV footage and mobile locations.
