Namma Metro Yellow Line Update: In a latest development on the operation of Bengaluru’s yellow line, Bengaluru MP Tesjaswi Surya has urged the air-freighting of bogies to speed up services on the line, as currently trains on the stretch operate with an interval of 25 minutes.

In a post on X, Tejasvi Surya said that he held a discussion with the Managing Director of Titagarh Rail Systems to discuss the urgent supply of additional trains for the Yellow Line Metro. The discussion focused on expediting the delivery of more trains to meet the growing demand on the Yellow Line.

Surya further said that he was informed that nearly 8 sets of trains are ready for delivery by September 30, as all components but bogies are ready.

To avoid a 30-45 day delay that would result from shipping by sea, MP Tejasvi Surya has urged authorities to consider air freight of the bogies for two train sets.

Surya urged BMRCL to press CRRC, which is providing bogies for the metro, to expedite the delivery of trains. Surya said that the cost of the delay would be far more than the expense of air-freighting the bogies.

Surya requested Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to expedite arrangements for air shipping the bogies. He emphasised that timely delivery would yield multiple benefits, including cost savings, enhanced commuter experience, and increased revenue. Conversely, further delays would escalate costs and cause inconvenience to passengers.

A fourth train set is expected to come into service by mid-September, reducing the interval between trains to approximately 20 minutes.
