Navi Mumbai Metro Details:  In a move to complement the public transportation in Maharashtra, the state planning body of CIDCO said that services on Navi Mumbai metro rail line 1 between Belapur and Pendhar will be started from Friday. While releasing an official statement informing the public of the decision, the City and Industrial Development Corporation said that the services on the 11.10-kilometre route will be opened without any inauguration ceremony as directed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Navi Mumbai Metro routes and Timings:

  • Metro service starts on Friday between Pendhar to Belapur Terminal and Belapur Terminal to Pendhar at 3:00 PM.
  • The last service for the day will be at 10:00 PM.
  • Starting November 18, the first service between Pendhar to Belapur Terminal and Belapur Terminal to Pendhar will begin at 6:00 AM.
  • The last service remains at 10:00 PM.
  • The frequency of the metro service will be every 15 minutes.

"The metro service will commence on Friday between Pendhar to Belapur Terminal and Belapur Terminal to Pendhar at 3.00 PM, with the last service being at 10 pm. From November 18, the first service between Pendhar to Belapur Terminal and Belapur Terminal to Pendhar will be at 6 am, while the last will be at 10 pm. The frequency will be 15 minutes," the CIDCO release said as reported by PTI.

Navi Mumbai Metro Fare:

- Fares for the metro service are structured based on distance travelled.
- Rs 10 fare applies for distances ranging from 0 to 2 KM.
- For 2 to 4 KM, the fare is Rs 15.
- Traveling a distance of 4 to 6 KM incurs a fare of Rs 20.
- Rs 25 is the fare for distances between 6 to 8 KM.
- For 8 to 10 KM, the fare is Rs 30.
- Distances beyond 10 KM will have a fare of Rs 40.

"The fares are Rs. 10 for 0 to 2 KM, Rs 15 for 2 to 4 KM, Rs 20 for 4 to 6 KM, Rs 25 for 6 to 8 KM, Rs 30 for 8 to 10 KM and Rs 40 for distances beyond 10 KM," it added.

CM Shinde congratulated the residents of the state on the opening of the Metro line.

"The much-awaited metro services will commence on line 1 between Belapur to Pendhar from November 17. Hearty congratulations to all Navi Mumbaikars. The Maharashtra government had given instructions to CIDCO that the metro should be made operational at the earliest for the citizens of Navi Mumbai. Accordingly, Metro services are being commenced without waiting for an official public programme," CM Eknath Shinde was saying as quoted by PTI.

According to the report, the state government was waiting for PM Modi to inaugurate the metro, however, due to some reason they decided to start it.

"The metro services will provide better connectivity within Navi Mumbai. The government aims to build a strong network of metro lines in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. CIDCO is implementing a metro network very effectively in Navi Mumbai," Shinde further said.

CIDCO vice chairperson and managing director Anil Diggikar said line 1 will ensure better connectivity for rapidly developing Kharghar and Taloja nodes along with CBD Belapur. The metro line stretching from Belapur to Pendhar encompasses a total of 11 stations, and the depot is situated at Taloja Panchanand.
