A National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) aspirant in Rajasthan’s Kota allegedly died by suicide on Sunday, police said. The 18-year-old student, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, was preparing for the medical exam while staying at a paying guest accommodation in Kota’s Pratap Chouraha area. This is the 15th such incident this year and second this month alone
The student, identified as Zeeshan, had spoken to a relative before taking the extreme step and said hat she might die by suicide, said Circle Inspector Ramesh Kavia, who posted at Mahaveer Nagar Police Station, according to news agency PTI. The girl was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead.
Earlier in May, another NEET aspirant allegedly died by suicide in Kota. The incident took place in the Parshavnath area ahead of the national medical entrance exam scheduled, police officials said. Circle Inspector at Kunhadi police station, Arvind Bhardwaj, told the news agency PTI that the girl was a minor and hailed from Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur.
For the past several years, the deceased was living with her parents in Kota while preparing for NEET-UG at a coaching institute.
The officials said that there was no suicide note recovered from her room. The body of the girl was sent for the post-mortem after which the exact reason of death would be ascertained.
