NEET UG 2026 Paper Leak: Two days after the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 over alleged paper leaks, the CBI arrested two more accused in the case. The accused have been identified as Dhananjay Lokhande from Ahilyanagar in Maharashtra and Manisha Waghmare from Pune.
With these latest arrests, the CBI has so far arrested seven people in connection with the case. According to Jagran.com, the two-day investigation has revealed that the original copy of the question paper was allegedly leaked from Pune before being circulated via WhatsApp to Nashik, Jaipur, and Gurugram.
CBI conducts raids at 14 locations
The CBI is also probing the possible involvement of an insider from the National Testing Agency (NTA). As part of the ongoing investigation, the agency conducted raids at 14 locations across the country over the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, protests continued in several parts of the country, with demonstrators demanding the immediate dissolution of the NTA and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
A senior CBI official said investigators have found evidence of mobile conversations between Manisha Waghmare and other accused, along with financial transactions worth lakhs of rupees. During questioning, Waghmare reportedly failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding these transactions.
The agency is currently withholding details about Waghmare’s background. However, officials believe her arrest is crucial, as the paper leak is suspected to have originated from Pune. Dhananjay Lokhande who is arrested from Ahilyanagar, is also believed to have links to Pune.

Senior NTA officials under scanner
According to officials, the arrests of the two accused could prove significant in tracing the mastermind behind the paper leak. Investigators are currently examining every link in the chain from the alleged leak of the question paper to its circulation among students. The role of senior NTA officials is also under scrutiny.
The CBI has recovered key e-documents from the NTA headquarters, which are currently undergoing forensic examination. Investigators suspect that several accused may have attempted to delete evidence from their mobile phones and digital devices after the alleged paper leak surfaced.
Meanwhile, the Rouse Avenue court granted seven days' custody of the five accused arrested in the NEET UG Paper leak case. The CBI produced the accused Mangilal Biwal, Dinesh Biwal, Vikas Biwal, Shubham Khairnar, and Yash Yadav before the court. The court had directed the CBI to produce all the accused persons on May 20.

The two other accused arrested on Thursday are being brought in for questioning on transit remand. On Thursday morning, a CBI team searched premises linked to the Bival family in Jamwa Ramgarh, Jaipur, and seized several digital devices and documents.
The National Testing Agency had cancelled the May 3 examination following allegations of a paper leak, impacting over 22 lakh candidates. The matter is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), amid concerns over the integrity of the examination process.
