Delhi-NCR CNG Price Hike: Along with petrol and diesel, the price of CNG has also been increased in the Delhi-NCR amid the crisis in West Asia. As per the reports, the price of CNG in Delhi and other nearby cities, including Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad, was hiked by Rs 2 per kilogram. The CNG will now cost Rs 2 more across the region, leaving a direct impact on the operating expenses of autos, cabs, and private vehicles.

The prices of petrol and diesel were increased by Rs 3 per litre across the country due to the disruption in movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. While petrol in the national capital will now cost Rs 97.7 per litre, the diesel will be priced at Rs 99.67.

The prices have been changed for the first time since April 2022; however, it was reduced by Rs 2 just before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The state owned firms decided to not increase the prices even when the global rates were at all time high during the war between Russia and Ukraine.

However, international oil prices have witnessed a hike by over 50 per cent in the recent times due to the ongoing war between Iran and America. The fuel prices were increased a day after the centre clarified that sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel are available at all petrol pumps across the country, asserting that their retail prices remain unchanged.

A Petroleum Ministry official said at the daily inter-ministerial briefing, "All citizens are requested to make efforts to conserve energy in their daily use in the current situation." He added, "Citizens are advised to avoid panic buying of petrol, diesel, and LPG. Be cautious of rumours and rely on official sources for accurate information."
