J-K Encounter: An encounter broke out between the security forces and the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district, with a most wanted terrorist belonging to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) killed. The Army, during the search operation on Wednesday, recovered the dead body of Mohammad Asif alias Hashim Moosa. The officials stated that Musa was eliminated in a gunfight in the higher reaches of Budgam, adding that the operation is underway.

Operation Underway

Earlier in a post on X, the Army informed that it launched a high-profile joint operation in the central Kashmir based on specific intelligence input. "Vigilant troops observed suspicious activity, and upon being challenged, the terrorists opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist was neutralised," the Chinar Corps said in its post.

It further stated that body of Musa was recovered during the search early morning in General Area Palmaidan. "Further to the ongoing operation, during the search early morning in General Area Palmaidan, body of Pak based Lashkar-e-Taiba ( LeT) terrorist, identified as Mohammad Asif alias Hashim Moosa recovered along with war like stores," it added.musa

While providing details, the officials stated that the most wanted terrorist of LeT was killed in the remote regions of Dudhpathri during the gunfight. They further stated that despite the initial success, the operation was still progress, reported PTI.

Who Was Musa?

Musa was wanted for his involved in several high-profile attacks on both sides of the Pir Panjal range over the past several years. While he successfully escaped an encounter in the Yousmarg hills early this month, the officials eliminated him on Tuesday.

The officials further informed that Musa's close confidant Yasir was killed in an encounter earlier on September 5. They added that the killing of Musa is a big setback for the terror outfit functioning in the hilly regions, adding that a few more terrorists are likely to be neutralized in the ongoing operation.
