A fire broke out at a godown-cum-factory in northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar on Sunday, triggering panic in a neighbouring building and leaving six people, including women and children, injured after they jumped from the building while trying to escape, police said.
The blaze erupted on the ground and first floors of the factory, which manufactured judo dresses and boxing gloves. No one was inside the factory when the fire broke out, police said.

The Delhi Fire Service received a call about the incident at 11:05 am and rushed 15 fire tenders to the spot. Firefighting operations were launched immediately, and the blaze was completely extinguished.
According to police, panic spread among people in the building adjacent to the factory as the fire intensified. Six people, including women and children, then jumped from the building and sustained injuries.
“However, panic spread among people in the building adjacent to the factory, prompting six persons, including women and children, to jump from the building, resulting in injuries,” a senior police officer said.
The injured were taken to hospitals for treatment and are currently out of danger, the officer said.
Police are now ascertaining the circumstances that led to the fire and assessing the extent of damage. They are also verifying the identities and other details of the injured.
