Diganta Das DFF Founder: There is a saying in English, "If you are born poor, it's not your mistake, but if you die poor, it's your mistake." The story of Diganta Das is one such example of how a person can turn hardships into opportunities and build from scratch.
Hailing from Gohpur in Assam's Biswanath, Das grew up in poverty and donned multiple roles to support his family. From being a security guard to a construction worker to now owning a food business, earning Rs 50 lakh per month. Das serves as the founder of DFF-Daily Fresh Food, which specialises in ready-to-eat frozen Malabar parottas.
From Construction Worker To Security Guard
Navigating a relentless cycle of survival, Das, after completing Class 10th in 2001, started working as a construction labourer for the Border Roads Organisation near the Arunachal Pradesh border. At the time, he earned Rs 1,200. Later, he moved to Sikkim and continued as a construction worker.
As financial burden mounted and opportunities opened, he moved to Bengaluru and took up the job of a security guard for a monthly salary of around Rs 4,500. He also worked as a room service attendant at a hotel. However, lower wages and payment delays forced him to leave the job eventually.

How He Started His Food Business?
Diganta joined iD Fresh Food in Hoskote, Bengaluru, in 2012, where he worked as a cook. Through years of large-scale food exposure, he honed the culinary skills that eventually helped him learn how to make multi-layered Malabar parottas. Subsequently, he got an opportunity to work as a paratha maker, gaining hands-on experience in the preparation and production of the popular flatbread.
However, it's not all plain sailing. In 2017, Das was left half-paralysed after a high-voltage electric cable fell on him. It took nearly two years to recover. Refusing to let tragedy dictate the course of his life, Das, after recovering, returned to the food sector.
Invested His Life Savings In DFF
After recovering, Das joined forces with a friend to establish a local paratha manufacturing unit in Assam. In 2022, he started a frozen Malabar parotta business, DFF (Daily Fresh Food), in Assam. With all his savings of Rs 7 lakh, Diganta went all out for the production of ready-to-eat frozen Malabar parottas.
While his friend helped him arrange the machinery, he started supplying his parottas to nearby stores, focusing on maintaining taste and hygiene consistently. Within a year, the business took off.
Today, Daily Fresh Food (DFF) reportedly serves more than 20,000 parottas every day and has emerged as one of the leading frozen food businesses across Assam. With DFF soaring to greater heights, Diganta, who was once a security guard, now reportedly earns more than Rs 50 lakh a month.
