Prajwal Revanna's Mobile Phone Found With Dozens Of Porn Videos, Called Several Women From Bengaluru Jail

A fresh revelation has emerged in the case involving former Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, with a forensic examination reportedly finding dozens of pornographic videos on a mobile phone allegedly used by him inside Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru.

According to an NDTV report, Crime Branch officials conducted a surprise raid last month and allegedly caught Revanna, who is serving a life sentence after being convicted of rape, using a mobile phone inside his prison cell. The device reportedly contained dozens of pornographic videos.

Seven people, including two prison personnel, have been booked for allegedly supplying a mobile phone and SIM card to Revanna inside the prison. Investigators are also probing a suspected wider network involved in supplying prohibited devices to inmates, the Hindustan Times reported.

Those booked include Pratap Rao, Tausif, Siddiq and prison officials Prakash and Manjunath.

Parappana Agrahara Police Inspector B Naveen said investigators suspect that the device was passed to Revanna through a chain involving inmates and prison personnel.

How was the phone found?

Revanna was allegedly caught using a mobile phone during a surprise raid conducted by Crime Branch officials on August 11. Officials also seized a charger, a pen drive and a notebook from the high-security barrack.

The mobile phone and pen drive were subsequently sent for forensic examination. According to the findings, the mobile phone contained dozens of pornographic videos, while the pen drive reportedly contained web series.

The discovery has once again raised questions over alleged special privileges being extended to high-profile or ‘VIP’ prisoners inside Bengaluru’s central prison.

Who supplied the phone to Revanna?

According to Parappana Agrahara Police Inspector B Naveen, the mobile phone allegedly reached Revanna through intermediaries, including prison inmates and personnel.

Siddiq and Taufiq, who were reportedly accused in connection with the KG Halli and DJ Halli violence cases are suspected of having helped arrange the device.

Police suspect that Taufiq purchased the mobile phone while undergoing treatment at Jayanagar Hospital. A SIM card was also allegedly obtained in Siddiq’s name and subsequently taken into the prison for use.

Revanna reportedly paid around Rs 1 lakh for the mobile phone and another Rs 50,000 for the SIM card, according to the report.

Investigators have also reportedly traced SIM cards linked to the alleged network to Andhra Pradesh. One of the SIM cards was reportedly purchased in Punganur, and police are examining its call records.

The call detail records allegedly show calls made to several women and family members. Police are expected to issue notices to some of the individuals contacted through the number and question them as part of the investigation.

Authorities are also examining financial transactions allegedly linked to the purchase of the mobile phone and SIM card. Electronic evidence is being analysed to determine how the alleged communication network operated from inside the prison.

Following the recovery of the phone from Revanna’s cell, authorities suspended a jail official and ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Prajwal Revanna rape case

Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, was convicted in one of four rape cases registered against him. The woman, who worked as domestic help at the Revanna family’s farmhouse in Holenarasipura in Hassan district, had alleged that Prajwal Revanna repeatedly raped her from 2021 onwards.

She further alleged that Revanna recorded the sexual acts and threatened to release the videos if she disclosed the alleged abuse to anyone.
