Bengaluru News: The Karnataka State Cabinet on Thursday approved a proposal to establish the Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township in Ramanagara district. The cabinet approved the proposal from the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA) to boost the sustainable growth of the city. The authority announced that the township will be designed with the Work-Live-Play concept.

They further stated that the township will be self-sufficient and eco-friendly. Besides, it will integrate residential as well as economic spaces, targeting a balanced development model. The report submitted to the state government suggests that the land acquisition process by the Greater Bengaluru Development Authority (GBDA) will be done under the Karnataka Urban Development Authorities Act, 1987.

The total cost of the development is estimated at around Rs 12,150 crore, and the authorities will take 8,943 acres of land to build 10 villages. The initial land for the development work is already acquired by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). The report also pointed out that its location will make the township an economic hub in the upcoming years.

The township will provide a major boost to the finance of the Silicon City as it will connect with major transportation routes, including the Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway (NH-275), Bengaluru-Dindigul highway (NH-209), and NICE Road. The authorities are planning to connect it with the metro route via Mysuru Road and Kanakapura Road.

The accessibility to the metro will provide a great convenience to the residents of the township. Apart from this, the authorities have also proposed to link NH-275 and NH-209 with a 60-meter-wide road.

The authorities assured that it will first build the residential sector, and the landowners of the area will be compensated through plots. The report submitted to the government suggested that there will be an effort to preserve and promote local traditions of the state. Apart from that, the report emphasised that integrated village settlements will provide economic and social inclusivity.
