Upon being asked about the charges Mahua levelled against him about his degrees, Dubey said the question here is whether or not Mahua was a thief. "I will give all the information which the Committee asks me to provide. I will appear before the Committee whenever it asks me to do so....Is Mahua a chor or not?" he said.

Dubey asked Om Birla to set up a probe committee in this regard, adding that the TMC leader should be suspended from the lower house. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla sent Dubey's complaint against Moitra to the Ethics Committee of Lok Sabha, which is chaired by BJP member Vinod Kumar Sonkar.
