A man in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida received an inaccurate electricity bill of over Rs 4 crore for three months, attributed to an incorrect meter reading by the power distribution company. The incident occurred at Sector 122, where a resident received an electricity bill of Rs 4,02,31,842.31 for the period from April 9 to July 18, with a due date of July 24.

Basant Sharma, residing at house number C-103, was alerted via SMS on Thursday about the bill, which also mentioned a discount of Rs 2.8 lakh if paid on time. Sharma expressed his shock at the inflated bill, stating that his tenant, the sole occupant of the house during the billing period, uses only basic electrical appliances, reported TOI.

Currently in Shimla for official training with Indian Railways, Sharma contacted the discom’s junior engineer, who assured that the amount would be corrected and a revised bill would be issued.
