Noida Authority Water Supply: The Ganga water supply will be affected for four days, till June 13, in view of repair works in the pipeline network in sectors 63 and 121 by the Noida Authority. The work is expected to affect 195.8 million litres per day (MLD) of Ganga water. Noida gets 240 MLD Ganga water from the Upper Ganga Canal. This is approximately 60 per cent of Noida's daily water demand of 407 MLD.
"There are leakages in a 1,400mm water pipeline near Sector 63 green belt and another 1,000mm pipeline that passes through the Sector 121 service road. To undertake the repairs, we have shut off the Ganga water supply as of Monday. The work is likely to be completed by June 13," Noida Authority senior manager (Ganga water) Devendra Nigam said, as quoted by a Times Of India report.
The repair work will not impact the supply sectors 19, 20, 22, 23, 25 and 27. The water pressure would be low in these areas as water would be diverted.
"Supply to some of the newer sectors, like 71, 72, 88 and 122, may be affected due to the slow release of water from an alternate pipeline," he added.
In another update, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) announced that the national capital will get three new water treatment plants to meet the growing water demand of its expanding population. These facilities will be located at Iradat Nagar near Narela, Najafgarh in southwest Delhi, and Chhatarpur in South Delhi.
The new plants are expected to supply an additional 235 million gallons per day (MGD) of treated water to the capital. The Iradat Nagar and Chhatarpur plants will each have a capacity of 80 MGD, while the Najafgarh plant will have a capacity of 75 MGD.
