Bhubaneswar Traffic Advisory: With the State Level Independence Day Parade scheduled for August 15 at Mahatma Gandhi Marg, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate has announced an extensive traffic plan to ensure safety and smooth movement during the celebrations. The advisory includes road closures, diversions, and parking arrangements for visitors and VIPs.
Bhubaneswar Traffic Advisory: Traffic Restriction Timings
Traffic restrictions will be enforced in phases on August 11 and 12 from 2 PM to 6 PM, on August 13 from 7 AM to 11:30 AM, and on Independence Day from 6 AM until the end of the parade. The measures, issued under the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003, and the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Traffic Regulations, will affect both Mahatma Gandhi Marg and its connecting roads.
⦁ August 11 & 12: 2 PM – 6 PM
⦁ August 13: 7 AM – 11:30 AM
⦁ August 15: From 6 AM until the parade ends
Bhubaneswar Traffic Advisory: Key Traffic Restrictions & Diversions
- Heavy Vehicles: No entry to Master Canteen Square from Ram Mandir or Rajmahal side.
- Two-Wheelers & Light Vehicles: Allowed from Rajmahal to Ram Mandir via Master Canteen Square, but no access to PMG Square until the event ends.
- Rabindra Mandap Route: Vehicles from Housing Board side diverted at Keshari Talkies crossing.
- PMG Square Route: Vehicles from AG Square diverted at Jaydev Bhawan Square towards IDCOL Auditorium.
- From 120 Bn. Square: Traffic diverted towards Unit-IV at MLA Colony crossing.
- Access to Mahatma Gandhi Marg: All lanes sealed, pedestrian access only.
Bhubaneswar Traffic Advisory: Check Designated Parking Zones
To ease parking woes, authorities have identified seven parking zones:
1. BDA Bus Stand near Railway Station
2. Congress Bhawan frontage
3. IDCOL Auditorium frontage
4. Jaydev Bhawan frontage
5. SBI Unit-III frontage
6. Rabindra Mandap premises
7. Unit-II Girls’ High School Ground
Bhubaneswar Traffic Advisory: Special Safety Measures
In the interest of safety, the release of gas balloons between PMG Square and Master Canteen Square will be prohibited from 6 AM until the event ends on August 15, with violators facing fines of Rs 500 to Rs 1,000.
