Odisha Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain activity in multiple Odisha districts during Dussehra celebrations this year. According to the latest weather forecast, the weather is expected to remain dry until Tuesday, but rain is expected to lash southern districts after that.
As per IMD, a low-pressure area will form over northern Odisha and the adjacent central Bangopsagar region on October 1. This impact is expected to cause heavy rainfall in several districts of southern Odisha.
Heavy rain is likely to occur in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam on this day. Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is also likely in many parts of coastal and interior Odisha.

Rain Forecast In THESE districts
Rainfall may intensify on Dashami, October 2. Heavy rain warnings have been issued for Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Khurda, and Puri districts. Heavy rain is expected in Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, and Bargarh districts on October 3.
Senior agricultural meteorologist Professor Surendranath Pasupalak said that a low-pressure area will form in the Bay of Bengal on September 30, which could develop into a depression by October 2. It will then move toward the south Odisha coast and may possibly touch the south Odisha or north Andhra coast by October 3.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain completely dry on September 30. Light showers are possible in the northern coastal areas on October 1, Navami. Light to moderate rain is expected in Puri, Ganjam, Nayagarh, and Gajapati districts.
Heavy Rain On Dussehra
On October 2, Dashami, there will be scattered rain in coastal areas, including Puri and Ganjam districts, until noon. However, the intensity of the rain will increase after noon. On October 3, heavy rain will fall across most parts of the state.
