In an unfortunate incident, a 38-year-old techie employed with Ola Electric allegedly died by suicide accusing his seniors of mental harassment and financial exploitation in his final note.
The techie identified as K Aravind left behind a 28-page handwritten suicide note accusing several Ola employees along with founder Bhavesh Aggarwal.
The police officials said that Aravind had been working as a homologation engineer at the company since 2022. On September 28, he allegedly consumed poison at his residence in Bengaluru's Chikkalasandra.
Aravind was friends found in distress by his friend who immediately took him to the Maharaja Agrasena Hospital. However, he died the same day.
After his death, his brother found the purported suicide note which made accusations against Bhavish Agarwal and Subrat Kumar Das.
The note mentioned that he was denied his salary and allowances which put him under mental and financial strain and eventually drive him towards suicide.
The officials added that the police have registered a case on an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) based on the complaint filed by Aravind's brother.
"Soon after the complaint, we issued notices to the individuals named in the FIR, and they have submitted written explanations. Further investigations are underway,” an investigating officer said.
The complainant has also alleged suspicious money transfer amounting to Rs 17.46 lakh into Aravind’s bank account after his death.
In their statement released on Monday, Ola said that they challenged the registration of the FIR before the Karnataka High Court and protective orders have been passed in its favour.
Ola said that the deceased engineer never raised any complaint or grievance regarding his employment or harassment.
