All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, or AIMIM, chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government over the attempted attack on Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai by lawyer Rakesh Kishore. He questioned them over the lack of stringent action against Rakesh, stating that the response might have been different if he had belonged to another religion.
In a speech shared by his party, AIMIM on X (formerly Twitter), Owaisi said, “If his name was not Rakesh Kishore, and if it was Asad, what would the police do? BJP people would say, ‘Pick him up!’, 'he came from a neighbouring country', ‘(Pakistan's spy agency) ISI!’ — they'd open all fronts against that person.”

Owaisi drew a sharp contrast between the leniency shown to Rakesh Kishore and the swift police action against Muslims protesting the removal of the ‘I Love Muhammad’ banner in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.

He noted that Kishore, in his attack on the Chief Justice, also criticised the Supreme Court for opposing Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s “bulldozer justice.”
Why Did Rakesh Kishore Hurled Shoe At CJI?
In his speech, Owaisi pointed out that Rakesh Kishore had raised the slogan, “Sanatan ka apmaan, nahin sahega Hindustan” (India will not tolerate insults to Sanatan Dharma). Kishore told the media that he was offended by a recent remark of the Chief Justice during a case involving a Hindu idol of Lord Vishnu.
However, the Chief Justice further clarified that the comment was not meant to be disrespectful.
“Tell me, Modi ji, aren't your government and your policy responsible? These are people whom your government has empowered,” Owaisi said. He accused the Modi government of injecting poison into such people’s hearts.
“Even now, this Rakesh Kishore says that he does not care about anything. Prime Minister, the Delhi Police comes under you. And you just give one statement, something like 'this was very wrong,” he added.
PM Modi condemned the attempted attack on Chief Justice BR Gavai, stating, “Every Indian is angered” by the incident.
Owaisi further emphasised that the prime minister would have gone beyond merely condemning the incident and initiated legal action, even if the CJI chose not to file a complaint.
“The Chief Justice of India is a Dalit by caste, and I want to give a message to our Dalit brothers, to those who follow the Ambedkarite ideology; to those who believe in Baba Saheb Ambedkar and the Constitution,” Owaisi said.
