A Pakistani national who accidentally entered Indian territory in Jammu was sent back to Pakistan on Monday after being handed over to the Pakistan Rangers at the International Border. The Border Security Force (BSF) identified the man as Nazir Sadheer, a resident of Luni Pundra village in Sialkot.

He was arrested on September 3 in Jammu’s Kanachak area after inadvertently crossing the International Border and entering India.

According to officials, personnel of the BSF’s 44th Battalion apprehended Sadheer near Border Out Post (BOP) Sohan in the Kanachak sector. During the questioning, the man said he was a resident of a Pakistani border village and had crossed the border illegally.

Following the incident, a BSF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) reached the spot and assessed the situation. After an inquiry into the circumstances of his crossing, BSF personnel contacted their Pakistani counterparts and held a flag meeting with the Pakistan Rangers.

Sadheer was subsequently handed over to the Rangers in the Gopaltan Border Outpost area and sent back to Pakistan, officials said.

The incident comes amid heightened security concerns along the International Border, with Pakistan-based terrorist groups allegedly using drones to smuggle weapons, ammunition, cash and drugs into India through handlers in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). These consignments are often collected by overground workers (OGWs) and delivered to terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir.

In response to the drone threat, the BSF has deployed high-tech anti-drone systems along the International Border with Pakistan.
