Panchkula Blackout Tonight: Haryana's Panchkula will be imposing a blackout from 7 PM today, May 9, amid security concerns after drone attacks by Pakistan. According to Deputy Commissioner Monika Gupta, the district has been placed under high alert due to emergency preparedness.
Gupta urged everyone to be alert and follow safety procedures, saying Panchkula is totally safe and no curfew is necessary. Further, she urged locals to remain calm and rely solely on official district administration notifications.
Gupta added that one should only believe information from the government's social media accounts or the official civil society WhatsApp groups, which comprise sarpanches, ward council members, and other important community leaders.
Gupta, who chaired a meeting with district secretariat officials, stated that a district-wide blackout was observed on Thursday night after a sudden blackout alarm.
Another alert could be issued on Friday as well, she said, and as a precaution, she asked all residents to stay indoors and voluntarily observe a blackout on Friday evening. Gupta advised everyone to turn off all lights in their homes and to stay indoors unless necessary.
It was also agreed to keep the solar street lights off until things stabilised. Officials stated that teams from the fire and health departments are on alert and that sensitive spots in the district have been identified.
