Parliament Winter Session LIVE: Both Houses Adjourned Till Wednesday Amid Ruckus Over Adani Issue

Harsimrat Kaur Badal, leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), emphasized that the responsibility of running the parliamentary proceedings lies with the ruling party, not solely the opposition. She stated that the ruling party cannot continuously blame the opposition for disruptions in the House. 

After the proceedings of both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, “The Modani issue rocked both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha today. INDIA parties called for a Joint Parliamentary Committee investigation into the Modani scam - the case for which has been reinforced by the recent indictments of Adani's bribery and suppression of information from Indian and American regulators.”

The Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the day following a ruckus over the Adani issue. Opposition MPs in the upper house called for a debate on the bribery allegations against the Adani Group, as raised by the US Department of Justice. The session will resume on Wednesday.

Both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha adjourned for the day. The houses will reconvene on Wednesday. There will be no parliamentary sessions on November 26 in observance of Constitution Day.

Amid the ongoing winter session of Parliament, Opposition MPs, who are members of the Joint Committee of Parliament on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. 

Taking a swipe at the Opposition ahead of the Parliament Winter Session, PM Modi says, “But those who have been continuously rejected by the people 80-90 times do not allow discussions to take place in the Parliament. They neither respect the spirit of democracy nor do they understand the importance of people’s aspirations. They have no responsibility towards them, they are unable to understand them and the result is that they never live up to the expectations of the people," the Prime Minister said.

Ahead of the Parliament Winter Session, PM Modi addresses the media and hits out at the Opposition INDIA bloc. PM Modi says, “Some people who have been rejected by the people are constantly trying to control the Parliament through hooliganism by a handful of people. The people of the country count all their actions and when the time comes, they also punish them.”
