Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a two-day visit to Jharkhand, is set to visit tribal icon Birsa Munda's birthplace in Khunti district. The visit includes the unveiling of a government scheme worth Rs 24,000 crore aimed at the development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

The announcement is part of a series of initiatives, with the PM also launching the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra,' releasing the 15th installment of Rs 18,000 crore under the PM-KISAN scheme, and inaugurating projects worth Rs 7,200 crore in the state.
During his visit, PM Modi will pay homage to Birsa Munda at the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Memorial Park-cum-Freedom Fighter Museum in Ranchi before flying to Khunti district. There, he will participate in the third 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas' and launch the comprehensive PVTG development project.
The scheme aims to provide basic facilities such as road and telecom connectivity, electricity, housing, clean water, sanitation, education, health services, and sustainable livelihood opportunities to remote and scattered areas where these tribal groups reside.

I feel very proud to have got the opportunity to visit his birthplace Ulihatu," the PM posted on X after reaching Ranchi on Tuesday.

As part of the PM PVTG Mission, around 28 lakh PVTGs from 75 tribes residing in 22,544 villages across 18 states and UTs will benefit from the initiative. The visit also includes the release of the 15th installment of PM-KISAN, benefiting over 8 crore beneficiaries, and the inauguration of projects spanning rail, road, education, coal, petroleum, and natural gas sectors.
The projects to be inaugurated include the new campus of IIM-Ranchi, a new hostel of IIT-ISM Dhanbad, a POL depot in Bokaro, and the doubling of railway tracks in various sections.
Additionally, foundations will be laid for projects such as the four-laning of the 52 Km stretch of the Mahagama-Hansdiha section of NH-133, 45 Km of the Basukinath-Deoghar section of NH-114 A, the KDH-Purnadih Coal Handling Plant, and a new academic and administrative building of IIIT-Ranchi.
After the event, PM Modi will return to Ranchi and depart for Delhi in the afternoon, concluding his visit to Jharkhand.
