Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the national celebrations for the 12th International Day of Yoga from Kolkata's iconic Red Road, joining the participants in celebrating the global event centred on wellness and healthy living. Around the world, more than 210 Indian embassies and consulates are organising events in nearly 2,500 locations, underscoring yoga's growing international popularity.

This year’s theme is "Yoga for Healthy Ageing", which emphasises the role of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and a healthy lifestyle.

“Yoga day has become the world’s biggest festival, visuals are coming from different parts of the world," PM Modi remarked while addressing the gathering during celebrations.

“June 21, in some parts of the Earth, is the day with the longest duration of daylight in the year. And because of International Yoga Day, this day, June 21, has also become the day of the world’s largest collective celebration," he added.

The 47th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day by practicing yoga on the banks of Pangong Tso Lake in Leh (Ladakh).
