Parliament Winter Session: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a scathing attack on the opposition ahead of the commencement of Parliament’s Winter Session. Speaking to the media outside the Parliament, PM Modi urged the opposition to come out of its Bihar poll loss shock and involve themselves in constructive dialogue.
“The Winter Session should not turn into a battleground for the frustration of defeat, nor should it become an expression of arrogance over victory. We should maintain a balance,” he said.

Continuing his pre-session address, PM Modi stated that while negativity may be useful in politics, there must be positive thinking for nation-building. He urged political parties to "keep negativity within limits."
"I expect you to keep negativity within limits and focus on nation-building. This winter session is also important for another reason. Our new Chairman will give guidance to our Upper House. I wish him all the best. GST reforms have created an atmosphere of reverence among the countrymen. A lot of work will be done in that direction in this session as well..." he told reporters.

He said that the Parliament should be a place for 'delivery, not drama,' stressing that the country needs 'policy, not slogans'.
PM Modi intensified his attack on the opposition, alleging that some parties have started a "new trend" of misusing the Parliament to advance their state politics. “Now, they should reconsider the game they have been playing for the last 10 years, which the country is not accepting. They should at least change their methods and their strategies. I am ready to give them tips on how they should perform, but at least do not ignore the rights of MPs; give them the opportunity to express themselves..." PM Modi said.
He highlighted the recent record-breaking voter turnout in the Bihar elections, calling it the greatest strength of Indian democracy.“The increasing participation of mothers and sisters is, in itself, creating new hope and new confidence. On one hand, the strengthening of democracy, and now within this democratic system, the strengthening of the economy is also being closely watched by the world. India has proven that democracy can deliver results,” he added.
