In a major step, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the PM Road Accident Victims Hospitalisation and Assured Treatment (RAHAT) scheme in his first decision from the Sewa Teerth, the new address of the PM Office (PMO).
What is PM RAHAT Scheme?
PM Modi launched the PM Road Accident Victims Hospitalisation and Assured Treatment (RAHAT), which provides accident victims with cashless treatment up to Rs 1.5 lakh. This will ensure that no one loses their life due to a lack of prompt medical assistance.
Special treatment will be given
The PM Relief Scheme states that every road accident victim will receive stabilisation treatment at designated hospitals for 24 hours in non-life-threatening cases, while in life-threatening cases, this limit will be 48 hours.
The government will cover the cost of the assistance provided under this scheme. After treatment, hospitals will submit claims digitally for reimbursement.

Other announcements for farmers, Startups and Lakhpati Didis
The PM also approved a proposal to increase the number of Lakhpati Didis. The PMO said, "The government has crossed the milestone of 3 crore Lakhpati Didis, more than a year ahead of the target of March 2027. The PM has now set a new and even bigger target of 6 crore Lakhpati Didis by March 2029, doubling both the scale and the expectations."
Agriculture Infrastructure Fund's loan target has also been doubled to Rs 2 lakh crore. To strengthen India's entire agricultural value chain, the PM has announced doubling the loan target of the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund from Rs 1 lakh crore to Rs 2 lakh crore.
To power India's innovation ecosystem, especially in deep tech, early-stage ideas, advanced manufacturing and breakthrough technologies, the PM has approved Startup India FoF 2.0 with a corpus of Rs 10,000 crore.
