Prajwal Revanna Sex Video Case: The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to set aside the anticipatory bail granted to former Hassan MP and suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna's mother, Bhavani Revanna, in a kidnapping case, news agency PTI reported. The anticipatory bail to Bhavani was granted by the Karnataka High Court in a case over the purported abduction of one of the victims of Prajwal's alleged sexual assaults.

The grant of anticipatory bail to Bhavani Revanna was challenged before the SC by the Karnataka Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing allegations of rape and sexual assault against Prajwal Revanna. A Supreme Court bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan issued notice to Bhavani on the Karnataka government's appeal against the high court order, PTI said in its report.
"The accused is a woman who is aged 55 years. There are serious allegations against her son of indulging in atrocious things. He ran away and eventually, he was caught," the bench was quoted as saying by PTI. "In a case of this kind of allegations, what will be the role of the mother in abetting the crime committed by her son?" the bench told senior advocate Kapil Sibal, who was representing the SIT.
Sibal described the grant of relief to Bhavani by the high court as "most unfortunate", claiming that the victim was held captive on instructions from Bhavani's family. "There is nothing... let us not politicise the matter," the bench observed.

While granting anticipatory bail to Bhavani Revanna on June 18, the Karnataka High Court had reportedly noted that as many as 85 questions posed by the SIT were already answered by her. The high court observed that it was unfair to claim that Bhavani was not cooperating with the investigation.
