Pune Bus Accident: Two people were killed and 18 suffered injuries after a private-company-owned bus fell into a deep ravine in Maharashtra's Pune during the early hours of Sunday. The SEEPZ employees were travelling in a private minibus to Rajgad Fort for a trekking expedition. The bus plunged into a 40-foot-deep ravine.
The deceased have been identified as Vishwas Satim (25) of Vile Parle and Dhwani Thakkar (23) of Kandivali West, who were unconscious when they were pulled out of the debris and were later declared dead.
The people worked at Shimaira Jewellery, which specialises in jewellery manufacturing for export. It is suspected that the driver lost control of the vehicle at a sharp turn at Pabe Ghat around 1:50 am. The bus broke through a road barrier and overturned.
An FIR has been registered against the driver, Sandeep Gaikwad (40) of Jogeshwari, for causing death by negligence and rash and negligent driving.

There were a total of 20 passengers in this travel bus. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the Haveli Disaster Management Rescue Team immediately rushed to the spot.
Cops Reach Scene
On receiving information about the incident, under the guidance of Assistant Police Inspector Kishore Shevte of Velhe Police Station, employees of the Secret Department Akash Patil, Nilesh Rane, and Pankaj Moghe, along with members of the Rajgad and Haveli Disaster Management Team Tanaji Bhosale, Ganesh Sapkal, Sandeep Solaskar, and Krishna Margale, rushed to the spot and immediately started rescue work. The driver and other tourists trapped under the bus were taken out and admitted to the rural hospital in Velhe for primary treatment. At this time, Dr Chandrakant Bhoite, medical officer of Velhe Rural Hospital, said that two people have died in this accident and 18 others, including the driver, have been injured.

The rescue team has made great efforts and has safely evacuated the other passengers trapped in the valley. All the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment and are currently undergoing treatment. The police are investigating the matter further.
