In a sensational revelation in the Pune Porsche crash case, the doctors, who allegedly manipulated the blood samples of the minor accused, took a bribe of Rs 3 lakh and executed the task at the behest of the latter’s father, Jagran.com reported citing sources. The Pune Police on Monday nabbed two doctors and a peon of Sassoon General Hospital for exchanging the blood samples of the teenage driver in a horrific Pune Porsche accident case.
The peon, Atul Ghatakambole, posing as a cook, allegedly took a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from the minor’s family for the two doctors. The accused’s builder father even held a telephonic conversation with the doctors and convinced them to change the blood samples of his son.
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said the samples taken on May 19 were thrown in a dustbin and the sample of some other person was sent to the forensic lab.
Kumar said Dr Ajay Taware, head of the forensics department at Sassoon Hospital in Pune, and Dr Shrihari Harnor, chief medical officer at Sassoon, were nabbed for allegedly manipulating reports in a bid to tamper with the evidence in the case. Owing to this, traces of liquor were not found in the blood. However, CCTV footage from the bar confirmed that the accused minor was in an inebriated state while driving his car.
A Massive pandemonium erupted after a 17-year-old youth on Tuesday rammed his high-end Porsche Taycan into a motorcycle in Pune, killing two IT professionals. Moreover, builder Vishal Agrawal is said to have used his influence owing to which his son was granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) within 15 hours.
However, the Juvenile Board rolled back its erstwhile verdict after a massive outrage erupted over the incident. The accused was sent to a juvenile home for 14 days.
