Pune Porsche Crash: As a part of the investigation, the police are planning to digitally recreate the accident scene using some of the latest AI-based tools and software for "evidence appreciation", said a senior police official on Monday. He also informed that the police have never used such AI (Artificial Intelligence) tools for reconstructing accident scenes, though they have been effectively used in murder cases to reconstruct the body for identification.

"By leveraging these AI tools, we aim to reconstruct the entire accident and crime scene in detail. The objective is to creatae a comprehensive visualisation of the crime/accident scene to enhance evidence appreciation," the officer told PTI. Let's take a look at all the updates in the case:

Doctors Who Switched Samples Suspended

Two doctors were removed from their posts and one staff member was suspended for allegedly trying to change the blood sample of the 17-year-old accused. Suspended Dr Ajay Taware is the head of the state-run Sassoon Hospital’s forensic medicine department, Dr Shrihari Halnor is the chief medical officer and Atul Ghatkamble is a staff member. Of all the three Taware's clearance will come from Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde since he is a class one employee. Meanwhile, the other two will be suspended with immediate effect.

Teenager's Blood Samples Were Exchanged

Earlier, police claimed that the blood samples of the accused teenager were discarded and replaced with another person's samples, which showed no traces of alcohol, at Pune's Sassoon General Hospital. The police have detained Dr Ajay Taware, the head of the forensic medicine department of the state-run hospital, Dr Shrihari Halnor, the chief medical officer, and employee Atul Ghatkamble.

Hospital Dean Points To Minister

The state government ordered Dr Vinayak Kale, the dean of BJ Government Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital, to go on compulsory leave following a press conference by Kale in Pune. In the press conference, the dean of Pune's Sassoon Hospital claimed that one of the doctors accused of replacing blood samples was made the head of the forensic department on orders of Medical Education Minister Hassan Mushrif following a recommendation letter sent by MLA Sunil Tingre.

What Is The Case All About?

A 17-year-old teenager, who was driving a Porsche at speed, hit a motorcycle in the early hours of May 19. The accident that took place in Pune's Kalyani Nagar area, claimed the lives of two IT professionals in their 20s. According to police, the teenager, son of builder Vishal Agarwal, was drunk at the time.
