An Indian woman has emerged at the centre of a controversy after a Brazilian woman's photo went viral on social media, following the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s ‘voter theft’ allegations. The woman, identified as Urrmi on her X account, shared a photo showing an inked finger during Phase 1 of the Bihar elections, fueling Congress’s claims that the BJP is engaging in vote manipulation to win elections in the country.
The Pune woman is alleged to have voted in Pune in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections and then again in Phase 1 of the Bihar Assembly elections. Two separate posts on her account show her posing with an inked finger, but the images are reportedly from two different elections and two different states.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Urrmi wrote, “Go Vote, Pune! Voted for development, voted for clean governance, voted for a Modi-fied India!” Another post from November 6 reads, “Voted for a Modi-fied India! Jaai ke Vote daali, Bihar!"

This is the second instance cited by Congress workers to support their 'voter theft’ claims, following a Brazilian woman’s photo in the Haryana voter list that went viral.

Congress Doubles Down On ‘Voter Theft’ Allegations
Congress workers dug up older images showing the woman voting in Pune during the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, claiming this as an example of how voters are participating in elections across different states.
The development follows Gandhi’s allegations about the Haryana elections on Thursday, where he alleged that a woman with multiple identities had cast her votes at 10 separate booths. Congress workers largely shared the Pune woman’s photo to substantiate these allegations.
In a post on X, Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe Patil shared screenshots of the two posts and said, “I will vote in Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha. I will vote in Bihar in the Vidhan Sabha. I will steal votes for Modi.”

Congress allies in Bihar joined in criticising the government. RJD spokesperson Priyanka Bharti said, “In 2024, madam voted in Maharashtra, and in 2025, she vote in Bihar. She openly wrote she wants to build "Modi's" India. They have sold off all their shame and modesty! Just look at their arrogance. When you ask them anything, Madam will say, "The system is ours!" The whole system runs for the BJP folks like earthworms.”
Woman Denies Voting In Bihar, Says Post Was Meant To ‘Motivate’
Urmi, a lawyer from Pune, clarified that her viral post was intended solely to encourage voter turnout in Bihar. She denied having voted in Bihar, saying, “This was just for motivation. I never said I voted *today*. I said I voted. And everyone knows it was in Maharashtra. So, calm down! Motivated enough? Now your turn, Bihar. Go vote.”
