Punjab News: Three members of a family were found dead inside an SUV in the fields near a village in Punjab’s Patiala district. As per police, it appears to be a case of suicide, however, various angles are being investigated. The Toyota Fortuner was parked on the village road along the National Highway in Tepla Banur.
The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Singh Rajpal (45), a property dealer from Mohali; his wife Mandeep Kaur (42), and son Abhay Singh (15), according to a News18 report.
The victims had gunshot wounds. The property dealer was seated in the driver’s seat, wife in the front passenger seat, while the son was found in the backseat. The villagers alerted the police on discovering the vehicle.
The police have also recovered a handgun from the car and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The police said that they have informed the relatives of the family. According to the preliminary investigation, police found that the son had been facing mental health issues.
In another unrelated incident, a woman allegedly died by consuming poison after a man abducted her daughter from her home in Rajasthan's Kota. The police, who were able to track down the girl, lodged a case of abetment of suicide against the man. The police identified the accused as Sohail. The accused is yet to be taken into custody for interrogation.
