Border Security Force (BSF) at the Chauntra border post and Kasowal border post of the Gurdaspur sector opened fire on Pakistani drones that were seen entering the Indian territory on Monday and Sunday night. The drones were also targeted with light bombs by the BSF personnel to prevent the intrusion of Pakistani drones into Indian territories.
BSF and Punjab Police also carried out a joint operation to find out if any of the drones dropped any suspicious material. This is not the first time that Pakistani drones have been spotted near the border.
In April this year, a Pakistani drone carrying cash, bullets, magazines, slings and batteries crashed in Kangri of Sunderbani. The drone was recovered by the security forces after the local people heard its sound and informed the security forces about the possible threat. The drone was allegedly used for smuggling weapons and drugs across the border.
On October 2, the BSF shot down and recovered a made-in-China drone near the border in Punjab's Tarn Taran district on Monday evening. The drone had one packet which was suspected to be Narcotics.
After a search operation, the security personnel found a drone and a bottle containing heroin from paddy fields near Amritsar's Rajatal village. The heroin weighed 0.545 kg, according to the statement issued by the BSF.
