The Railways has stopped all train services to Punjab amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The trains, which are in the middle of their journey, have been stationed at various locations.
The Dehradun-Amritsar express has been stopped at Laksar station, while the Kolkata-Jammu Tawi was halted at Roorkee station.

Tatanagar-Amritsar Jalianwala Express has been stopped at Laksar.
Besides, top officials of the railways said food outlets on the station have been instructed to remain open for people stuck on their journey.
Security has also been heightened across railway stations and establishments.
The security measures were adopted after India launched a massive counteroffensive againstPakistan after the latter launched missile and drone attacks targeting military establishments. Indian defence system intercepted the missiles and managed to foil the attack.
“Military stations at Jammu, Pathankot & Udhampur were targeted by Pakistani-origin #drones and missiles along the International Border in J&K today. The threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in line with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). No casualties or material losses were reported. India remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people,” the Defence Ministry posted on X.
India also destroyed two JF-17 and one F-16 jets belonging to Pakistan in the ongoing operation. Two Pakistani pilots, who ejected from the fighter planes, landed in the Indian territory and are reported to be in the custody of Indian forces.
