Punjab Woman Abuses, Slaps Mother-In-Law Over Property Dispute As Son Keeps Asking Her To Stop

A video of a woman from Punjab's Gurdaspur is going viral, showing her pulling hair, slapping, hitting, and abusing her mother-in-law. The incident was recorded by the woman’s son, who said that this is not a one-time occurrence but a regular event. He has accused his mother of repeatedly beating and abusing his grandmother.

The accused, identified as Harjeet Kaur, was seen pulling her mother-in-law, Gurbajan Kaur, by her hair. When her son repeatedly pleaded, “Mumma, na karo” (Don’t do it, mother), Harjeet released the hair but continued to hurl abuses and threaten further violence. “Tu kutti aa” (Are you a bitch?), she shouted, pushing her mother-in-law onto the couch, according to the NDTV report.

Harjeet then picked up a steel glass, struck Gurbajan twice, and smashed it on the ground. The verbal altercation continued, and she pushed her mother-in-law again. In self-defense, Gurbajan tried to push Harjeet with her leg, but Harjeet held it and slapped her twice, prompting Gurbajan to cry out loudly. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday when Harjeet caught Gurbajan recording one of the assaults.

Victim Filed Complained 

According to the NDTV report, the victim in her complaint, widow Gurbajan has alleged that Harjeet demands all family property be transferred to her name. Charatveer Singh, her grandson, added that his mother is an alcoholic who often beats and verbally abuses his grandmother when intoxicated.

"My mother hits me and sometimes fights with my father also. She drinks and probably consumes drugs as well. She often forces my father to drink," said Charatveer.

Charatveer alleged that when he reported the incident to the police, they asked him why he hadn’t intervened instead of recording the assault. "I recorded the incident on camera as proof. My mother once filed a complaint against me as well and has threatened to take revenge and repeat her actions," he added.

Accused Physical Abusing History  

Gurbajan claims she has endured a long history of physical abuse, much of which has been captured on video by her grandson, Charatveer. One clip shows Harjeet striking her husband with a slipper, while another depicts Charatveer being locked inside a room by his mother to prevent him from reaching his grandmother. The police have issued a warning to Harjeet, but Charatveer is demanding stricter action against his mother.
