Punjab Trains Cancelled: In a major winter schedule overhaul, Indian Railways has cancelled 56 trains across northern India from the first week of December 2025 to the end of February/March 2026 because of persistent dense fog and poor visibility in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu regions.

The cancellations, aimed at ensuring passenger safety during the peak fog season, will hit regular travellers, especially on routes passing through Jalandhar and Jalandhar Cantt, where 22 of these trains either originate, terminate or pass through

Railways clarified that advance information was given two months ago, and ticket bookings for these cancelled services were never opened, so no existing passengers will face last-minute inconvenience.

Passengers planning winter travel to Punjab, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand are advised to check the latest status on the IRCTC website or NTES app before booking, as more fog-related disruptions and short-terminations are expected in the coming weeks.

This annual winter exercise by Indian Railways has become routine, but the scale of 56 full cancellations underscores the severity of fog expected this season.
