The Indian Railways has announced the operation of 150 Puja Special trains this year to handle the increasing passenger rush during major festivals like Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath. The services will benefit passengers from Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. These trains will run a total of 2024 additional trips from September 21 to November 30.

Notification of 14 trains has been issued by East Central Railway, which will pass through major stations like Patna, Gaya, Koderma and Dhanbad. A total of 588 trips will be operated through these trains, jagran.com reported.

Eastern Railway has also issued a notification for running 24 Puja special trains from stations like Kolkata, Sealdah and Howrah, through which 198 trips will be covered.

Apart from this, special trains will also be operated under East Coast Railway, South East Railway, North Central Railway, South East Central Railway and West Central Railway. Stations like Prayagraj, Kanpur, Ranchi, Tatanagar, Bhopal, Kota, Raipur, Bilaspur will be connected to these.

In another update, railway has announced that it will operate special festival trains from Sealdah to Patna in the upcoming months to manage the crowd.

Special Train Between Sealdah And Patna

- Railway will operate additional special trains to accommodate the surge in passengers residing in these cities.

- The trains will operate on each Sunday between October 5 and November 16.

- The train will depart from Sealdah at 12.30 am and reach Patna at 3 pm on the same day.

- Patna-Sealdah Puja Special will depart from Patna every Sunday at 5:15 pm and reach Sealdah at 6 am the next day.

- The authority stated that second-class, sleeper-class, and air-conditioned-class facilities will be available in this train.

- This train will stop at Durgapur, Asansol, Chittaranjan, Madhupur, and Jasidih stations of the Asansol Division of Eastern Railway in both directions during its route.

- Thousands of people are likely to travel to their hometowns during the upcoming festivals.

- Apart from this, several other special trains will operate in the upcoming months to provide relief to the commuters.
