Rajasthan News: In a major security operation on Wednesday, police in Tonk, Rajasthan, seized a Maruti Ciaz loaded with explosives, including 150 kg of illegal ammonium nitrate hidden inside sacks of urea fertiliser. Authorities also found around 200 explosive cartridges and six bundles of safety fuse wire (approximately 1,100 meters).

The police received information about explosives being transported from Bundi to Tonk. The police immediately set up a blockade and stopped the suspicious vehicle. Following the seizure, two individuals, identified as Surendra Mochi and Surendra Patwa, were arrested and are currently under interrogation.

Speaking to news agency ANI, DSP Mrityunjay Mishra said, “Explosives were seized from a Maruti Ciaz car. 150 kg of ammonium nitrate hidden in sacks of urea was seized. In addition, police recovered 200 explosive batteries and 1100 meters of wire. Two accused have been arrested. One is Surendra and the other is Surendra Mochi...An investigation is underway..."

Ammonium Nitrate Link To Delhi Blast

Ammonium nitrate, a white crystalline chemical commonly used as a fertiliser, was reportedly used alongside other high-grade explosives in last month’s Red Fort blast in Delhi, which claimed 15 lives and injured a dozen others. Investigations at the blast site revealed that the suicide bomber, Umar-un-Nabi, may have improperly assembled the improvised explosive device (IED), triggering the deadly explosion.

The tragic incident took place on the same day the authorities seized 2,900 kg of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, just 50 km from Delhi in Faridabad, Haryana.
