At least five people were killed and 14 others injured when a trailer truck collided with a tempo carrying devotees near Khari Beri village on NH-125 in Jodhpur on Saturday, officials said. The injured have been admitted to MDM Hospital for treatment.

Dr Vikas Kumar, Superintendent of MDM Hospital, stated that three victims were brought dead to the hospital. Among the injured, one has a serious abdominal injury, another has a chest injury, one has a head injury, and the remaining patients are stable and receiving treatment.

Speaking to the reporters, Vikas Kumar said, "Later, around 7:00 a.m., we learned that a tempo and a truck collided, resulting in a fire. There are 17 patients in total: 3 patients are brought dead, and 14 are receiving treatment. Among them, one is ill, one has an abdominal injury, one has a chest injury, and one has a head injury, while the rest are stable with normal vitals."

Kumar further said that the hospital received calls from local authorities and officials shortly after the incident, alerting them to the accident and enabling immediate medical response.

"We received calls from Gajendra Singh Shekhawat's office, the Collector's office, and other places, which allowed us to arrive early... Since then, no additional casualties have occurred," he added.

Further information on the incident is still awaited.

In a separate incident, at least four people were killed and five others injured on Saturday (Nov 16) around 10:30 pm in Palar, Budgam district, Jammu and Kashmir, after a Tata Sumo collided with a dumper truck. All nine occupants of the Sumo were taken to a nearby hospital, where four were declared dead, while the remaining five are receiving treatment at different hospitals, officials said.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed shock and grief over the accident, directing district authorities to support the affected families, provide timely medical care to the injured, and investigate the cause of the crash. Later, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also conveyed his condolences and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
