A private IT company manager in Udaipur, Rajasthan, was allegedly gang-raped in a moving car on Wednesday under the pretext of being dropped home after a birthday party. According to the Superintendent of Police (SP), the accused have been detained and are under interrogation.
The manager alleged that the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a woman executive head, and her husband took her in a car after the birthday party on December 20, during which the incident occurred. She accused all three of committing the crime.
The victim arrived at the party around 9 pm. The celebration continued until 1:30 am, during which alcohol was consumed. The victim was reportedly heavily intoxicated. According to an NDTV Rajasthan report, when her health began to deteriorate, she was offered a ride home.
A PTI report citing police sources said the woman executive head drove the victim in her car, accompanied by her husband and the CEO. During the journey, the three allegedly stopped at a shop to buy a substance resembling cigarettes, which was given to the victim. She reportedly became unconscious after consuming it. The next morning, she realized she had been sexually assaulted and filed a police complaint.
Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal told PTI, “Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against three accused. They have been detained and are being interrogated.” He added that further action will follow based on the medical examination and witness statements.
In a separate incident, a young woman from a village under the Kankarkhera police station area in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut submitted a petition to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) on Monday, seeking action against her partner for allegedly raping her for the past four years on the pretext of marriage.
She stated that she met the accused, a resident of the Jani police station area, at a family function four years ago, after which they began communicating and meeting regularly. She alleged that he established a sexual relationship with her by repeatedly promising marriage.
The woman further claimed that when she recently asked him to fulfill his promise, the accused threatened to circulate her explicit photos and videos on social media. According to the petition, on December 21, he called her to a hotel under this threat and raped her. Taking cognisance of the complaint, the SSP directed the Kankarkhera police to investigate the matter and take appropriate legal action.
