The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on Monday released its first list of candidates for Rajasthan assembly polls. As many as 41 candidates have been named in the list across the state as BJP plans to materialise the two-decades-old practice of state not repeating the incumbent governments.  

The saffron party has fielded many of its sitting MPs to contest Assembly polls in the state. Former Union Minister and Jaipur Rural MP, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, will be contesting from the Jhotwara Assembly segment. Diya Kumari from Vidhyadhar Nagar, Baba Balaknath from Tijara, Hansraj Meena from Sapotra and Kirodi Lal Meena from Sawai Madhopur are amongst other Parliamentarians who will be contesting the Assembly elections this time.

On being fielded in the upcoming Rajasthan election, Rajyavardhan Rathore expressed his gratitude towards BJP high command and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for believing in him. "I am thankful that the BJP workers and PM Modi believed that I will be able to replicate the kind of work that I did as an MP, in Vidhan Sabha. A major change is required in Rajasthan," he said while talking to ANI. 

EC announces poll dates

The EC on Monday announced the schedule of elections which are going to take place in the five states-- Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram. The poll body said voters will exercise their franchise from November 7-30 and votes will be counted for the five States on December 3.

Barring Chhattisgarh, all the states will vote in one phase. The election in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases, November 7 and November 17. Mizoram will vote in a single phase on November 7. Madhya Pradesh will vote in a single phase on November 17, coinciding with the second phase of Chhattisgarh. Rajasthan and Telangana will go to polls in a single phase on November 23 and November 30, respectively.
