What Did Prajwal Revanna Alleged Before The Court?

Former MP Revanna reportedly broke down before the court, alleging that the prosecution purposefully brought the women who filed a complaint against him as he was growing fast in politics. “...they say that I have raped multiple women, but none of the women have come out voluntarily to complain, they came six days prior to the election (Lok Sabha polls last year)...the prosecution side brought them purposefully and made them give a complaint”, Prajwal was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

He further stated that he was a BE Mechanical graduate, who always passed on his merit. A special court convicted the former JD(S) MP on Friday for sexually assaulting his house help. “Please give me a less sentence is what I request the court,” Revanna reportedly said while seeking a lesser sentence from the court, citing that he hasn't met his family, including his parents, for six months now. Four cases have been filed against Revanna for rape and sexual harassment against women. The case in which he was convicted on August 1 pertains to a 47-year-old who worked as a house help at his family’s farmhouse. She accused Revanna of repeatedly raping her since 2021 and threatening her to leak the clips of the sexual abuse if she opens up before anyone.

A day before the conviction, Prajwal Revanna alleged that the woman complained only when some videos were circulated and that she did not open up about the sexual abuse before her husband or kin.

Revanna failed to retain Karantaka’s Hassan parliamentary constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The JD(S) also suspended him from the party following criminal cases against him.
