The Congress Party has adopted major resolutions to expand its footprint across India at the key AICC session in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad. In a strong message while addressing the party leaders, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said those who do not contribute to the party’s work will be retired.
Kharge emphasised that the organisation was the most crucial aspect of political battles, adding that a framework has been developed to empower district presidents, with their role in the organisation being significantly increased. He said the appointments of district presidents will be done impartially, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

He further clarified that district presidents must, within a year of their appointment, form booth committees, mandal committees, block committees and district committees by bringing in the best people, and there should be no bias in this process.
Kharge said that three meetings with district presidents from across the country had been organised, which he and Rahul Gandhi attended, and there was considerable discussion over the issue of strengthening the party at the grassroots. The inputs from district presidents were taken, and in the future, their role in candidate selection will be pivotal.
The Congress chief delivered a clear message regarding inactive leaders, stating that those who do not contribute to the party's work need to rest. He said that those who do not fulfill their responsibilities will be retired.
A special resolution focusing on bringing the Congress back to power in Gujarat, where the BJP has been in power since 1995, was also adopted during the party’s crucial brainstorming session. Gujarat Congress spokesperson Hiren Banker confirmed that the resolution was adopted during the session held on the banks of the Sabarmati River.
